Science has shown that play is very productive for humans at any age; we need play to keep our brains flexible, ward off depression, sustain optimism, and sharpen our social-emotional skills.”

2024-2025 GCMS Playground Expansion

In an effort to support the mental and physical health and well-being of the students of Glacier Creek Middle School, we are embarking on a journey toward a substantial playground expansion.  To address the need for more play options for our large student body and the need for inclusive and accessible options, we have developed the following project plans.

Phase 1 - 2700 sq. ft. Playground Ridge Expansion

- Estimated Cost $157,000

(not pictured - New ADA Pathway from parking lot to red rubber surfacing)

The Obstacle Course Structure includes 12 connected play components.  The red poured-in-place (PIP) rubber surfacing area includes a large climber/spinner, chair spinner, and wheelchair accessible hand cycle.  This red section includes equipment designed for integrated play between students of ALL abilities.

Phase 2 - “Inclusive Orbit” Installation/Resurface and Replace) Gaga Ball Pit
Estimated cost - $81,000

Both the Inclusive Orbit and the replacement Gaga Ball Pit are wheelchair accessible and add to the playground areas that allow for integrated play among students of all abilities.  There will also be a new ADA access path (not pictured) extending from the pavement.
